Bitch ass Old Woman.

I'm not saying that all old women are bitchy asses. I know many elderly people who are absolutely wonderful! And I'm not saying that she's bitchy ass because she's old. I've met many young bitchy asses. (I know. It's so unfortunate to see a pretty young thing be so UGLY on the inside.) What are we gonna do, right? Mourn for the world? pfft. I don't think so. Not worth the energy and effort, in my honest opinion.

So I carry my own tea bags and instant cereal/oatmeal for those emergencies when I'm starving and can't afford anything that's not free. (Like today.) And the campus cafes (or anywhere else for that matter) don't charge for hot water. These hospitable people have saved me on numerous occasions and I'm constantly thankful for them.

It's not funny at all how broke I am. I had to overnight express two pieces of mail today and I could only afford to mail one. How sad is that! So class today is at the library and we've got a little cafe there. I usually go to the one in our student union center, but that was out of the way, duh. I ask for a cup of hot water, right? And this greedy ass, cheap bitch takes a small cup, flips a switch and fills the cup, and punches into the register "MISC" "0.50" and I'm thinking, oh, ok, this is lame. I just paid for my $17.50 to overnight that one piece of mail so I KNOW for a fact that I do NOT have even 50 cents.
bitch ass old lady at register: /raises eyebrows impatiently
Anna: /digs for all the change in her change purse. totals $0.37.
BAOL: /proceeds to cancel the transaction
: /shakes her head and smiles that disgusting thin lipped smile
Anna: oh, ok. we could do that too.
BAOL: /stares at Anna

Like, WHAT THE FUCK. It's a cup of HOT WATER. It is NOT COMING OUT OF YOUR OWN FUCKING POCKET.

You are retirement age and work in a university campus cafe.

Fucking bitch ass old fart.

So yea, I starved for the rest of the day.

Sexist Razors

Yes, this is the long-awaited rant about razors. No, not the straight edge ones who the emo cutters carry around. Think of the ones men and women, young and old alike use to shave. It's so unfair that men always get the better blades than women. With the (not so) recent appearance of the Gillette Fusion, with its 5 blades plus 1 precision blade (for those sideburns and other such details), the difference is only more obvious. Are any 5 blade disposables on the market for women? No. Granted, we don't need to shave our faces like men do, but our legs like to feel the luxury of a close shave too!
Men have electric razors, offering almost zero possibility of razor burn and cuts. What do women get? Only disposables, ones with replaceable cartridges, or battery-operated ones, all of which men also have available. It's just not fair that men can get a closer shave than women.

Non-apologies

Originally I was going to apologize for not updating on a regular basis like I said I would. However, after much careful thought & cautions deliberation, I decided against an apologetic post. I feel like, as a writer, I can't be forced to meet these superficial deadlines & due dates. Creativity and thought has no bounds, so it's nonsense to bind said processes with constraints like time.
Of course, writers should have goals, just like any other sane person. My goal was indeed to update regularly but since it's obvious that I haven't achieved that, I'll just reset it like my New Year's resolution!

Hallway Rage

I quote my cool friend Casey, "I had, like, High School Hallway Rage."

Oh, how great it is to reminisce about high school. It feels so great to be finished with that portion of life! Casey and I were just walking back to our dorms, casually discussing walking speeds when she once again noted my apparent speed walking tendencies and I duly apologized. High school hallways totally suck and really aren't worth reminiscing because they were a source of pain and agony but in hindsight, they're actually somewhat funny.

Hallway rage is defined as being stuck behind a much slower walker (esp. one toting a rather large, cumbersome, and typically dangerously hard backpack) and being angry about being stuck. "Yea, you slow walker. You're being an ***," thought Casey. The problem seems not to lie in physical capabilities, but differing walking distances. High school students who have less distance to travel tend to walk much slower because they pace themselves. The farther away the next class, the faster the walker. It's really quite a simple relationship. In fact, so simple that the problem wouldn't be too significant if only pedestrian traffic were dictated by rules similar to automobile traffic. Slower drivers are advised to stay in the right lane, so the slower the walker, the more rightmost they stay. Very simple solution, eh?

Flipping Flip-flops

Summertime is the time of kick-butt sunglasses, little bikinis, tiny shorts, beach gear, sun-tanning (hopefully natural), and most importantly flip-flops! Flip flops are great in the summer because they're so minimal, leaving the foot bare so it'll tan better (I guess). It's always sad when my flip-flops are forced into early retirement because my delicate feet can't handle the friction and develop gross blisters. It also makes me sad when other people have to bandage their feet because of shoe issues. I feel for them.

What I don't feel for, however, is when people are so lazy they can't pick up their feet; shuffling around is neither acceptable nor attractive and it's annoying. "Thud, thud," or "Taek, taek," or "Clack, clack" sounds are absolutely unexcusable. Not only do the heels of your flip-flops wear away much faster than if you expended the extra bit of energy to actually lift your knee the slightest bit, but your knee might suffer minute damages from kicking out so lazily. Where's the need to shuffle? It's not more effective, it's definitely not more fun, and it's most importantly not more attractive. People observe other people. Whether we observe for approval, or for unspoken cues, or something else, it doesn't matter. Judgements of character are made every second. How footwear degrades really tells a lot about a person. Whether those judgements are correct or not, they exist and often alter perception. The soles of your feet tell a tale of your own soul.

That's why people should stop shuffling around.

Underpants!

The numbered selection of mens' underwear pales in comparison to the vast, endless, and colorful variety of womens' underwear. The differences are striking and shocking! The general consensus is that men don't really care about what their underwear looks like, design-wise. As long it's functional and clean, all's good, I hear. The numerous options in womens' underwear is so dizzying because the styles vary so greatly. Great arguments consummate over functionality versus style. Thongs offer little coverage and minimal panty lines while bikini panties offer a waistline just above the hip and a leg opening that cuts right down the butt cheeks. Hip huggers hug the hips and sometimes offer more bum coverage, but sometimes not. How underwear fits isn't only dependent on the cut of the style, but also on the very 3-dimensional human form. Underwear is typically loose on me because I have no bum. Really. I look kinda like a ruler. But I like it.

G-string deserve a whole paragraph on their own because so many sub-categories exist! G-strings are similar to thongs in that they offer minimal coverage, perfect for wearing under tighter trousers to eliminate unsightly panty lines but the essential difference is the amount of fabric. In G-strings, a small strip or triangle of fabric covers the front and a string rests between the buttocks (leading G-strings to be coined "butt floss") while thongs have a strip on fabric in the back offering sometimes substantial coverage of the butt crack. G-strings sometimes sport expensive decorations like rhinestones or golden chains. I really think this extravaganza really illuminates the plainness of mens' underwear.

Mens' underwear is mainly bought in packs while women tend to sort through and pick several pairs individually. Most mens' underwear is cotton or a cotton blend. Womens' underwear, however, includes polyester, Lycra, acetate, and other such synthetics. Personally, I'm a 99%-100% cotton fan. But I have nothing against those who chose others. Women love options and maybe that's why there are so many more styles of womens' underwear than mens'.

Chicken

I learned, from the Discovery Channel's show "How It's Made", how processed chicken becomes, well, processed. I'm glad I've eaten less meat since I've gotten to college. It's a lot easier to say, "No" to meat since I've so many options at meal times! The process didn't look gross on TV so I've nothing against the way DC presented it, and I don't dislike the taste of meat, it's just my body that doesn't like meat. 'Tis sad, but what can I do?

So I started to think about how chicken was coined "the other white meat." And it makes sense, the differences between red meat and white meat, I just wish they had noticably different effects on me. I was also thinking about farm-raised chickens and the chickens that are free to roam and do their thing. Chinese people, for one, really favor the free-roaming ones more and usually think that chicken breasts are too rough and "mushy" when it's not fresh. I prefer the veggies! and TOFU! but not the deep fried tofu. Yummy!

Pigs are usually the epitome of dirty/unclean, but really, chickens are even dirtier then pigs! Pigs are usually used as substitutes for humans in scientific research (when it comes to organs at least) and some behaviors carry over. Pigs poo in one place, like humans do. Dogs can be trained to poo in an orderly fashion, but chickens? They just go. Whenever it feels right, it happens. So chickens run around in their OWN POO. Ew. Everyone agrees that poo is necessary, but gross. So how are pigs th epitome of dirty? Re-think that one.
